Still Behind The Curve

Tuesday 7 May at 1:15 PM to 2:45 PM at NorwayUN, One Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, 855 Second Avenue, 35th Floor.

Nearly twenty years after the landmark Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security, are women able to actively participate in decisions concerning arms control and disarmament?

Surveying 84 multilateral meetings held during the last four decades, a new report by UNIDIR seeks to answer this question. Still Behind the Curve provides numbers and trends on gender balance in arms control and disarmament, as well as reflections from diplomats on gendered patterns of diplomacy. The research finds that women remain underrepresented in forums dealing with weapons and sheds light on the obstacles hindering their full and equal participation in this field.

We welcome you to a presentation of this new report and an interactive discussion on how to promote gender equality in arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament.

RSVP online by 3 May. For any questions contact
