The International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists

November 2nd marks the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

Journalists all over the world, including in the OSCE region, are attacked, harassed or even killed while doing their jobs. 90 % of the crimes are unresolved. Female media workers and journalists covering political demonstrations are especially exposed.

The safety of journalists and advocates of freedom of expression is a foreign policy priority for Norway. We work with international and Norwegian organisations to protect the freedom of media, promote freedom of expression and to end impunity for crimes against journalists.

Groups of Friends on the Safety of Journalists in Paris, New York, Geneva, Vienna and Strasbourg has made a joint statement on the occasion.
