Norway has recently been elected for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council 2021-2022. This opens up exciting opportunities to be part of our team.

Communication Adviser 
In a fast-paced and inclusive work-environment, we are looking for a team player that works strategically, is an effective communicator, can execute tasks professionally and has strong problem-solving skills.

The job involves a diverse range of tasks including:

  • Strategic communication, promoting Norway’s policies and work at the UN
  • External communication and digital diplomacy in a multilateral setting
  • Long term planning on messaging, as well as fast-paced day-to-day communications work
  • Preparing and publishing content online and on social media
  • Wide range of contact with international journalists in New York and elsewhere
  • Contact and correspondence with the UN, Member States and media

Administrative Officer
Providing administrative support to the Mission of Norway for the duration of our membership in the Security Council. We are looking for a team player that has excellent organizational skills, works systematically, can execute tasks professionally and has strong problem-solving skills.

 
The tasks include

  • administrative support;
  • correspondence with UN and other officials;
  • calendar management and support for senior management;
  • facilitation of VIP and other visits;
  • arranging meetings including reservations of conference rooms, correspondence, logistics, welcome and catering etc.;
  • some handling and follow up of protocol matters.

Additional information

The contract period will be for the duration of the Norwegian membership of the Security Council, i.e. until 31 December 2022.

At times, when necessary; it will be expected a need to work additional hours.

The employer reserves the right to change the job content as needed.

Regular working hours are 37,5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Daily working hours are to be agreed upon appointment. Occasional weekend work will be required.

Under US State Department requirements, we only employ, as non-diplomatic staff, candidates who are US citizens, US Permanent Residents or G1 visa holders. If you hold a visa other than an G1 visa you are not currently eligible to work at our office.
