In the framework of the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women, the Missions of Norway and Tunisia to the United Nations, together with Amnesty International and the International Service for Human Rights, are pleased to invite you to a discussion on the work of women human rights defenders on economic empowerment of women and girls and other areas of direct relevance to the Beijing Platform for Action.
HE Ms Neziha Labidi, Minister of Women, Family and Children of Tunisia, HE Ms Laila Bokhari, State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, and Danna Ingleton, Research & Policy Advisor of the Global Human Rights Defenders Team at Amnesty International, will deliver opening remarks, followed by a distinguished panel of leading women human rights defenders, which include:
- Maryam Al-Khawaja, Co-Director of the Gulf Centre for Human Rights
- Gulnur Elcik, Women’s Solidarity Foundation and Women’s Labour and Employment Initiative, Turkey.
- Claudia Erazo, Director of the Colombian organization Coorporacion Juridica Yira Castro and spokesperson of the Coordinacion Colombia-Europa-Estados Unidos.
Cynthia Rothschild, writer, activist and human rights and sexual rights advocate, will moderate the event.
