Thursday 21 September 2017 at 11 - 12:15 AM in ECOSOC, UNHQ.
Gender equality in the labour market is a hallmark for the Nordic countries, and has enabled us to become one the most prosperous regions in the world.
Policies promoting equal opportunities in working life, affordable child care, education and parental leave for all parents, have increased our countries’ growth and well-being. Still, more needs to be done to achieve full gender equality, also in the Nordic countries.
With this event, the Nordics aim to exchange experiences and invite to a dialogue on how to accelerate the progress – globally and at home – towards SDG 5 on gender equality and SDG 8 on decent work.
Join the debate between high-level participants from Nordic and non-Nordic governments, representatives from the trade unions and the private sector.
The debate is moderated by Ms Femi Oke, an international journalist, writer and moderator.
In the panel:
- Ms Isa Notermans, Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Spotify
- Mr Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson, Foreign Minister of Iceland
- Kristin Skogen Lund - Director General, Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise
- Ms Sharan Burrow - General Secretary, International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC)
The event is hosted by Mr Børge Brende, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Norway and Ms Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, UN Women Executive Director.
