Deputy Foreign Minister Marianne Hagen visits Malaysia

Thursday and Friday 22-23 of February, we were honored to welcome Deputy Foreign Minister Marianne Hagen in Kuala Lumpur for her visit to Malaysia and Thailand.

The two action-packed days opened with an evening reception at the Ambassador’s Residence with a short address by Deputy foreign Minister Hagen tailed by greeting representatives from the Norwegian business community in Malaysia, as well as agents from Malaysian government and international organizations.

On Friday Hagen met with Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Bin Naina Merican and Secretary General Dato’ Seri Ramlan Ibrahim at Wisma Putra. After the bilateral consultations, Deputy Foreign Minister Hagen participated in a lunch seminar on Women in Business. The lunch seminar brought together Lead Women, the Ministry for Women, Family and Community Development, MDEC, MITI, SME Corp, Aker Solutions, DIGI, DNV GL, Norway Connect, Shell Malaysia, and Telekom Malaysia with the Norwegian MFA in discussing parameters surrounding women in leadership roles.

As part of the eventful program, the Deputy Foreign Minister also met with Malaysian UNHCR and had a consultation with Bar Council and Suhakam – Human Rights Commission of Malaysia. We give the greatest thanks to everyone taking part once again, and look forward to future collaborations to come.
