MITI Minister

Breakfast meeting with MITI Minister and the Norwegian Business Community

It has been a busy week for the Embassy, bringing together the Minister of International Trade and Industries Mustapa Mohamed and key representatives from a variety of Norwegian-linked companies based in Malaysia for a breakfast meeting at the Ambassador’s’ Residence. As the Minister noted in his opening speech, whilst the distance between Malaysia and Norway is big, our ties are strong.

This year, Malaysia and Norway celebrate our 50-year anniversary of diplomatic ties. A part of the celebrations, this event both highlighted the broad variety of Norwegian interests in Malaysia and allowed the Minister and the Norwegian business community to come together to learn from each other and discuss issues, operations and experiences.

Both small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as larger internationally established companies attended the breakfast meeting. Industries represented at the meeting included  oil and gas, telecommunications, consumer goods, IT and software development, paint and coat manufacturing, green energy, aquaculture, agriculture and shipping.

With participation and engagement from Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), SME Corp Malaysia, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and Invest KL, companies were given additional insights on MITIs incentives and plans, whilst also discussing their experiences with other Norwegian companies in the region. We thank Minister Mustapa, MITI and the agencies present once again, and look forward to further collaborations in the future.
