7. On arrival

When you cross the border into the Schengen area, you will have to present:

Once you know when you will be arriving in Norway, you need to book an appointment with the police district where you will be living. This appointment should be as soon as possible after arrival. In most cases, you can book this appointment through the Application Portal, if this is not possible you will have to contact the police by telephone.

At your appointment, the police will then take your fingerprints and a photo, to order a residence card for you. This is a plastic card in credit card format that proves that you have been granted a residence permit in Norway, and that you are entitled to travel freely within the Schengen area.
