Traveling to Norway? - Register your arrival in our traveler registry
(About the registry)

Are you planning to travel to Norway and need a visa or residence permit?

As of the 28th of August 2019, applications for a visitor’s visa or residence permit to Norway will be sent to the Norwegian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, which will become a regional hub for immigration from the Middle East and North Africa.

This does not affect where and how you apply for a visa or a residence permit to Norway. You will still be able to submit the application and collect your passport and the decision documents at VFS Global application centre, but the Norwegian Embassy in Beirut will from this date no longer be responsible for the case processing.

Visa processing time

The processing time for Schengen visa to Norway is normally up to 15 days from the date the application is received at the Embassy in Amman. On a general basis it is recommended to apply well in advance, at least 4 weeks prior to your planned trip.

Already applied?

Applications for Schengen visa to Norway submitted prior to the 28th of August 2019 will be processed and finalized by the Embassy in Beirut.

If you have applied for a residence permit prior to the 28th of May 2019, you will be notified about the decision either by the VFS application centre or by the Hub Embassy in Amman. If you have given someone Power of Attorney to represent you in your case, the notification will be sent to the person you have authorized.

Travelling to a different Schengen country?

Please note that Norway will continue to handle applications on behalf of Iceland. If you are applying for a visa to travel to Iceland, you are to follow the same procedure as if you are applying for a visa to Norway. Hence, these applications will also be sent to and processed by the Norwegian Embassy in Amman, Jordan starting 28th of August 2019.
