The Ambassador discussed opportunities for investments, creating better conditions for expanding the tourism potential and the role of Norway in the development of regional initiatives in the municipalities in Kosovo. The visit began in Peja, where the Ambassador met with Mr. Gazmend Muhaxheri, Mayor of the municipality. He had the opportunity to visit one of Peja’s most important institutions for employment and economic development – Devolli Corporation – which produces the well-known Prince Coffee, Comodita mattresses and flour. Next, the Ambassador met with Mr. Agron Kuci, Mayor of Junik, and got to visit a local community house to see the structures of traditional Kosovo homes. Next, the Ambassador visited Gjakova and met the President of the Municipality Assembly, Mr. Luan Gola, before concluding the trip in Mamushe, where the Ambassador met the Mayor Mr. Arif Butuc. The municipality of Mamushe is the only Turkish municipality in Kosovo, mainly based on small-scale farming and trade activities (specifically tomato cultivation).
The visit emphasized the need for international presence on the local level in Kosovo, and that Norway will continue to be engaged in Western Kosovo.
