It is a pleasure for me to welcome visitors to the home page of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina. The Embassy is accredited to both the Republic of Kosovo and to the Republic of Albania.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina provide services to a wide range of clients, colleagues and partners. Whether it be consular services, supporting projects and managing grants, political support, or supporting economic development in Kosovo and Albania and developing commercial relations between our countries, the Embassy endeavors to be a focal point for information and activity.
The agreements and dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade have opened a new chapter in relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia. Norway will support efforts aimed at reducing tensions and normalizing relations between these two countries. We will also continue to provide financial and other support for justice reform and rule of law, all the while working to support Kosovo’s aspirations for Euro-Atlantic integration.
Our relations with Albania are also moving rapidly forward. Norwegian investments by Statkraft in hydro-power development of the Devoll Valley cascade is the largest single foreign investment in Albania, and will provide 20% of Albania’s electricity consumption upon completion. We trust that Norwegian companies will increasingly become aware of opportunities in Albania, Kosovo and the region. Norwegians have also discovered the tourism potential of Albania and are vacationing in Albania in increasing numbers.
Norway has had a strong presence in the Western Balkans since the early 1990’s. We are committed to supporting regional stabilization, normalization of neighbourly relations and economic development. Our endeavours in Kosovo and Albania reflect that long-term engagement.
As Norway's ambassador to Kosovo and Albania, I am determined to maintain and further strengthen the good relations between our countries.
