We are pleased to announce that Norway’s Oil for Development (OfD) programme now offers an opportunity for personnel from relevant NGOs to strengthen their knowledge of the petroleum sector.
The extended workshop will be held in Stavanger and Oslo, Norway, from November 25th to December 5th, 2019. Applications can be received until September 23rd. Admission will be restricted and the workshop is intended for persons who are actively engaged with relevant NGOs in the OfD partner countries. Travel, accommodation and meals will be offered to admitted participants. The event is organised by the PETRAD Foundation on behalf of the Oil for Development programme. A brochure is attached and more information regarding the workshop and application procedure is available on http://www.petrad.no/civil-society-workshop.
Enhancing transparency and accountability is one of three target outcomes of the Oil for Development programme. NGOs, as part of civil society, can be instrumental in achieving adequate transparency and accountability for decisions and operations in the petroleum sector, including its management by public authorities. Knowledge about petroleum operations and decision making processes is a requisite for meaningful engagement with the sector by NGOs. The workshop has a dual purpose of providing such knowledge while also stimulating exchanges of insights on issues of transparency and accountability related to the petroleum sector. There will be opportunity for participants to share their own experiences, hear from experts in the field and meet with relevant Norwegian institutions.
