Postponement of the Official Visit to Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya - 07 February 2020: In respect and solidarity with the nation following the passing of former President H.E. Daniel Toroitich arap Moi and the officially declared period of national mourning, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Norway will postpone his planned official visit to the Republic of Kenya. The accompanying ministers, Mr. Dag Inge Ulstein, Minister for International Development, and Ms. Linda Hofstad Helleland, Minister for Regional Development and Digitalisation, will also postpone their visit.

Consequently, the announced high-level seminar in Mombasa on Monday 10th February and other events planned in Nairobi on the 11th and 12th February will not take place.

The programme of the business delegation will no longer be undertaken as planned. However, Innovation Norway’s East-Africa office and Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA) will support Norwegian companies that still wish to travel to Kenya as planned. A more limited business programme will take place from Monday 10th to Wednesday 12th to facilitate meetings between Kenyan and Norwegian companies to explore innovative and sustainable business solutions. The CEO of NABA, Mr.  Eivind Fjeldstad, may be contacted in this regard at: and +47 959 69 631 (WhatsApp).

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and interest that everyone has shown towards the official visit and subsequent events.
