Due to the dramatic rise in Covid-19 cases and the critical situation for the health services in India, the Ministry is now advising against all travel to the country. The Ministry is also advising against all travel to Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Iraq.
‘The situation in India and the other countries included under these new restrictions is extremely worrying. To safeguard the personal safety of travellers, limit the risk of infections being brought into Norway from abroad, and avoid adding to the burden on the health services of these countries, we are now advising against all travel to these places,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide.
The Foreign Service has very limited or no capacity to provide consular assistance to Norwegian citizens who require help in these countries.
This travel advice is a supplement to the pandemic-related global travel advice against non-essential travel to all countries, which currently applies until 15 May and may be extended.
