Vertavo Quartet

Vertavo String Quartet is a Norwegian group founded in Hamar in 1984. The four women forming the quartet are Øyvor Volle, Annabelle Meare, Berit Cardas, and Bjørg Lewis.

    The Vertavo Quartet

    Formed in Norway in 1984, the quartet has been awarded First Prize at the 2nd Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, 1995 (as well as the Audience Prize and the Critics' Prize at the same competition) and, in 2005, the prestigious Grieg Prize.

    Vertavo perform at all major concert venues worldwide, touring extensively throughout Europe, Japan and the USA. The Quartet's diverse discography includes, among others, Schumann, Brahms, Grieg, Nielsen for SIMAX Classics, as well as the Mozart Clarinet Quintet with Martin Fröst for BIS Records.

    Their Debussy and Grieg recordings received the Diapason d'Or . Vertavo Quartet are Artistic Directors of the Elverum Summer Music Festival in Norway
