Services offered at the Norwegian Embassy

Please find below a list of the most frequently asked questions we get regarding what types of services we provide.

Marriage

The Norwegian Embassy in Dublin is not authorised to perform wedding ceremonies.

True copies

The Embassy will be able to verify that copies of certain documents are correct. This includes copies of passports, id cards, diplomas, etc. Please do not bring a copy with you; you need to bring the original.

It is also important to be aware that the Norwegian Embassy can ONLY perform this service if the reason for the need of the true copy is related to Norway one way or the other.

The fee for this service is €25.

Birth Certificates

Should you need to get a copy of your birth certificate (if you were born in Norway) you need to contact the county you were born. The Embassy can not assist in this, as if would be considered personal information and therefore only released to the person in question, as per the Data Protection Laws.

Certificate of clean criminal record

This will also fall under the laws of Data Protection, and the Embassy cannot process such a request. What you need to do is to contact the local police office, where you used to live in Norway, and apply through them. There is a form available on the internet, please click here to open the form.

Mustering

From the 20th August 2013 mustering has ceased and Norwegian Foreign services stations no longer verify the seafarers’ employment agreements, qualifications and health certificate. This will now be the ship owners’ responsibility alone. For more information, go to the Maritime Directorate’s page regarding these changes.
