The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta has a vacancy as ADVISER to its ASEAN Team.
The Embassy is accredited to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN and represents the political, economic, development cooperation and consular interests of the Kingdom of Norway. The Embassy has approx. 25 staff members, diplomats and local staff. The ASEAN team consists of two diplomats and local staff. Key tasks include strengthening the political contact with Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN, assisting Norwegian citizens, promoting Norwegian businesses, and building partnerships on prioritized areas. Through annual allocations by the Norwegian Government, the Embassy manages grants to partner institutions, including government bodies, multilateral institutions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as ASEAN-related projects in areas as renewable energy/climate change, blue economy (sustainable oceans and green shipping), good governance/human rights, peace and reconciliation.
Areas of responsibility:
- Under the supervision of the Ambassador to ASEAN, advise on matters relevant to the implementation of Norway’s Sectoral Dialogue partnership with ASEAN
- Have the lead on ASEAN projects including grant management, design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation
- Monitor and prepare background memos on developments of the current affairs in the ASEAN region of relevance for Norway’s partnership with ASEAN
- Liaise with the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN affiliated organizations, relevant ASEAN Member States government institutions, NGOs, think-tanks, and academic institutions
- Prepare and participate in meetings related to Norway’s partnership with ASEAN
- Write minutes from meetings, summaries, reports and drafting of interventions, speeches, talking points, and presentations for the Ambassador
- Organize and facilitate ASEAN official meetings, high-level official visits, seminars, workshops, and other relevant events
Requirements:
- Graduate degree in social science, development studies, environmental policy, public policy, economics, law, and other relevant degrees
- Experience from working in international institutions
- Experience in managing projects (grant management, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation) in international development context
- Experience working with ASEAN institutions and ASEAN related issues
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia both spoken and written (English fluency will be assessed during recruitment process)
- Proficient in grant management tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
