Vacancy: Advisor, Cooperation section

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi is the diplomatic representation of the Government of Norway in India and Bhutan and is situated in Shantipath, Chanakyapuri.

The Embassy is a busy workplace with a total of 15 diplomatic staff and 31 local staff. Innovation Norway, our Commercial Section is also based within the Embassy. The Embassy is a visa hub for the region and covers cases for Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Norway is also represented by a Consulate General in Mumbai.

We have a vacancy for a 2-year position in the Cooperation Section for an Advisor, with possibility of an extension. The vacant position’s areas of responsibility will be Global Health, Human Capital and Social Development. The areas of responsibility for the position may be adjusted over time according to the Embassy’s needs.  

The Cooperation section is a team of six staff who work with Institutional and Technical cooperation between Norwegian and Indian institutions as well as some UN and NGO-partners. The Norway - India strategy ( Norway - India 2030 ) gives an overview of the priorities, where political contact and institutional cooperation, business cooperation and research cooperation are the starting points. The Embassy works with oceans, energy, climate and environment, research, higher education and global health as well as gender equality and rights, and culture.

Main tasks:

  • Manage projects and programs within our institutional and bilateral cooperation such as the Norway-India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) on maternal, newborn and child health.
  • Follow-up Global Health issues, including ACT-A, Covax, CEPI, GAVI, GFF.
  • Gather information on health and environment, analyze and prepare reports and/or provide inputs to reports, with a focus on health and air quality.
  • Liaising with Ministries, Departments, Institutions and Organizations.
  • Follow Indian-Norwegian research cooperation within the areas of responsibility.
  • Work with other areas within human capital and social development, and other areas of the embassy’s program as needed.
  • Represent the Embassy in seminars and workshops and report on them.
  • Provide thematic and technical inputs and assistance in political/official visits.
  • Liaise with bi-lateral and multi-lateral cooperation agencies/partners in India and report back to Embassy.
  • Cooperate with other sections and teams at the Embassy on events and programs.
  • Travel to project sites in India is required.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in social science and/or management, or equivalent, or within one of the areas of responsibility.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience from working in an international organisation preferably with project management.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi is required. Knowledge of additional languages will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Nordic countries and Scandinavian languages will be an advantage.

  • Working days; Monday-Thursday (08.30-16.30) Friday (08.30-14.00) and 25 days annual leave.
  • Necessary training will be provided both on the job and through mandatory courses, some of which may be held in Oslo, Norway.
