2017 broke the records for Indian visa applications to Norway, with a 17,5 % increase from 2016. With 17771 visa applications from India, Nepal and Bhutan last year, there are good chances this year will break even bigger records.
This year’s numbers are so far promising. In January 2018 there was an increase of 28,7 % of applications compared to January the year before. Norway is in general experiencing a growth in visitors from all over the world. Indians are among the largest group of visitors to Norway, only surpassed by Chinese and Russians. With breathtaking nature, incredible hiking possibilities and eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, there are more than enough things to do in this country far north.
A visa to Norway is not only great if you are eager to visit the fjords at the Westcoast or lie on the white beaches in Lofoten – you even get the chance to go to other European countries. Since Norway is a part of the Schengen visa system, you can usually travel to the other Schengen countries if you are granted a visa to Norway.
The Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi receives more visa queries than ever before, especially since the Embassy now grants visas to applicants from Nepal, in addition to India and Bhutan. We kindly remind you to send in your visa applications to Norway and Schengen as soon as possible (it is permissible to apply three months prior to planned departure), to avoid delays in the processing period.
