Every 17th of May, Norwegians gather to celebrate their Constitution Day. People dress up in their nicest clothes, and those who own a bunad – Norway’s national costume, wear it with pride.
On Thursday, hot Indian weather did not stop Norwegians to celebrate the Constitution Day at the Embassy compound in New Delhi. Many people even defied the heat and wore their bunads!
In addition, some people had brought Norwegian hot-dogs and other traditional food from Norway to Delhi, giving the children an authentic celebration. As per tradition, there was a band and a parade. The Indian band successfully played Norway’s national anthem and other traditional songs – with some more rhythm that most Norwegians are used to!
