Foreign Ministers of Norway and India, Ms Ine Eriksen Søreide and Dr S Jaishankar met for the Norway-India Joint Commission meeting today over a video call.
Issues that were discussed included oceans, health, membership at the United Nations Security Council, blue economy, trade and investment.
At the Ocean Dialogue the shared commitment to sustainable management of the oceans and combating marine litter was highlighted.
Both countries also agreed to build on our longstanding health cooperation as we seek to combat COVID19 globally.
The Foreign Ministers also discussed the importance of multilateralism in securing peace and security. Norway looks forward to serving on the UNSC alongside India in 2021-2022.
Norway is also eager to increase bilateral trade with India. Both sides expressed hope for an early agreement of the EFTA negotiations. We Look forward to following up on the Norway-India Dialogue on Trade and Investment (DTI) held earlier this year, which generated great engagement and broad participation from India.
We thank our Indian colleagues for a useful and constructive dialogue today and look forward to working stronger together in the future.
