From 1 September, visa procedures for Nepalese citizens going to Norway will be undergoing a few changes. Applications for visa and residence permits for Nepalese citizens going to Norway will be shifted from the Danish Embassy in Kathmandu to the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi. The same applies for Nepalese citizens going to Iceland for up to 90 days (Schengen visa).

Apply in Kathmandu – collect in Kathmandu!
Although the place for case processing move, the good news is that you do not have to. Applications will still be received and passports returned at the Visa Application Centre in Kathmandu.

Three changes for Nepalese citizens applying for Norway (and Iceland):

1. Online registration and payment
Prior to your appointment at VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd in Kathmandu, you must register your application and pay the application fee online. Please see the Application Portal Norway.

2. Extended processing time
The case handling time for Schengen visas is 15 days from the application is received at the Embassy in New Delhi. Please take into account that courier may take an additional 6-10 days to/from VFS in Kathmandu and the Embassy in New Delhi.

We highly recommend that you apply well in advance, at least 4 weeks prior to your planned trip. You may register your application 3 months before your trip.

3. Two or more travelling together? Save time by using “group visa”
If one or more persons are accompanying you, you may register your applications as a “group visa” in the Application Portal, which will save you time in the visa process. Please see Embassy information on group visa.

Make sure your group meet at VFS at the same time to hand in your applications.
