Home is where the heart is

Today we present the fourth and final video from the documentary featuring the ASHA workers who have made an incredible impact in reducing neonatal deaths in rural India. With the help of the Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI), the ASHAs have been able to visit over 2.5 million homes, covering more than 700000 infants in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Rajasthan.

Through the concept of Home Based Newborn Care Plus (HBNC+), the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) visit homes of infants from three to twelve months of age and monitor their growth and development. HBNC+ has proven to be a remarkable national health program of India and NIPI is proud to be associated with it.

ASHAs, the Women of the village, are a key connecting link to deliver healthcare services like HBNC+ to homes, where they play an integral role in ushering a change in rural communities.

The Government of India has accepted HBNC+ for countrywide scale up so that low birth weight infants all across India will get the help necessary.
