Farewell, Ambassador Kamsvåg!

Newsletter Amb 1

On the day of his departure from India, we asked Ambassador Kamsvåg about how he would sum up his four years in India and his views on the future of the Norway-India relationship.

“It has been four great years.  We have seen our bilateral relations grow stronger, highlighted through the official visit of our Prime Minister, Ms. Erna Solberg, in January, the opening of our new, green embassy and through the launching of a new Norwegian strategy for the development of our relations towards 2030.  The visit confirmed the strong interest of Norwegian companies to strengthen their presence in India.  We have developed new areas of cooperation.  I think particularly the rapidly developing cooperation relating to the ocean, focusing on sustainable economic development and reducing littering and pollution, will be an important area in the years to come.

On a personal level it has been fascinating to witness how India, more a continent than a mere country, is rapidly developing, navigating its many challenges.  Having the opportunity to travel all over the country, experiencing its great diversity, has been something my wife and I have enjoyed immensely.  So we will leave with an abiding fascination for India.”

We will miss you, Ambassador Kamsvåg and wish you and Mrs Kamsvåg all the best for the future!
