There is high activity in the upstream and downstream oil and gas sector in India. The sector offers many business opportunities, and some of the major oil companies in the world has taken interest in the Indian oil and gas market – and among the interested is Norway’s Statoil.

The growing interest was reflected when the International Energy Forum was held in New Delhi recently. A delegation from Statoil, led by Senior Vice President, Mr. Tor Martin Anfinnsen, participated and had several meetings with the Indian Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, regulators and other business stakeholders in India.

Statoil’s visit to India aimed to better explore the various aspects of doing business in the oil and gas sector in the country. Ambassador Nils Ragnar Kamsvåg, Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) and Ministry of Petroleum & Energy in Norway along with Statoil Team were all present at the different meetings. The conversations were fruitful, and different areas of possible cooperation between Norway and India were discussed.

With the buoyancy in the Indian oil and gas sector, it is expected that more Norwegian companies would be keen to explore the business opportunities within upcoming projects.
