The Embassy hosted over 600 guests to a formal celebration of Norway’s Constitution Day on the 17th of May 2019.
The guest of honour was Mr A Gitesh Sarma, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, India. Upon his arrival, the Ambassador held a welcome speech before the National anthems of both countries were played.
This year’s theme for the event was to celebrate the Norwegian folk costume, the bunad. The Norwegian Husflidlag provided pictures and descriptions. In addition, many from the Embassy wore their own personal bunad to the event.
A salmon tent in the garden of the Embassy served various versions of Norwegian salmon. A particular popular dish was the Indian-Norwegian fusion where Indian panipuri was filled with salmon topped with avocado and mango!
Towards the end of the event, a storm came through and heavy rain called for a wet affair for the guests. A big thank you to all our guests who, in true celebrative and collaborative spirit, gathered in the salmon tent to continue the celebration of 17th of May and patiently waited while we assisted all to leave the venue safely.
