India is on top when it comes to number of skilled people to Norway from outside of EU and the Consulate General has seen a doubling of visa applications from the consular jurisdiction (west-coast) from 2016-2017. On December 11, the Embassy in Delhi and the Consulate General held a Visa seminar in Mumbai. Three representatives from the visa section in New Delhi held lecture on the Schengen and business visa process as well as addressed the reoccurring challenges the companies face.

Nearly 40 people from 20 different companies participated in the seminar, which largely represented IT and maritime sectors, as well as participation from VFS. The companies shared in advance what they considered as challenges to ensure the most relevance and benefit of the seminar. It was also room for Q&A session and mingling after the lecture, where the participants spent up to two hours talking to other companies and the visa team. Particularly large participation from IT and consulting firms that have significant presence in Norway and large group of travelers both on business visas and residence permits (for work), such as Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant, Accenture and HCL.
