The 22-member Norwegian business delegation arranged by NBAI and led by Consul General Ms. Ann Ollestad visited Goa from 20-23 November 2017 and interacted with a range of people in businesses, government, research institutions, media and other entities. Norway’s capabilities in maritime sector including skilling, vessel design, technology and equipment are well recognized in Goa. The state, prima facie, is full of business potential but challenges cannot be discounted.

Skilling was a central theme for several of the institutions we met with, in line with the “Skill India” of the Modi government. The focus was mainly on maritime sector where it`s interesting to see that India is the second largest providers of seafarers to Norwegian vessels. The delegation visited the Institute of Maritime Studies (IMS), with strong historical bonds to Norway. One third of the graduates is hired on Norwegian ships.
