Celebrating 100 years of Norway – Hungary diplomatic relations 1920 - 2020

In fact, four of the Nordic countries established diplomatic relations with Hungary in 1920. The Hungarian embassies in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm have come together and issued a joint call for papers about “the history, historical periods, important personalities or defining relational structures of diplomatic relations” of Hungary with Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in the period 1920- 1989. The invitation is addressed to undergraduate students, postgraduates and academic researchers of any country without limitation.

See the attached “Call for papers” and poster. Entries must be submitted in either English, Hungarian or the language of the given relation (for instance Norwegian). Valuable and interesting prizes will be awarded to the winners of the best entries.

The Norwegian embassy in Budapest encourages Norwegian students and researchers to avail themselves of this opportunity to submit papers on the history of Hungarian-Norwegian (or other Hungarian-Nordic) diplomacy to nordicdiplomacy100@mfa.gov.hu by 30 September 2020.

We think this is an excellent initiative by our Hungarian colleagues. Our embassy is more than willing to assist Norwegian students and researchers in identifying interesting themes for papers on the history of Hungarian-Norwegian diplomatic relations.
