Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

29.01.2021: Norway introduces its strictest entry rules since March 2020.

After 00:01 Friday 29 January, Norway has introduced strict entry restrictions. The main principle is that only citizens and foreign nationals already resident in the country can enter Norway now, but there are a few exceptions. The Government website describes in more detail who can and who cannot enter the country. More information will be available at the website of the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI). Please note that even some holders of previously issued visitor's or entry visas will be affected by the new restrictions.
