15.07.2020: Certain family members can now apply for a visa

Norwegian entry rules have changed, and certain family members of persons living in Norway can now apply for a visa. These groups are spouses and registered partners, cohabitants over two years or with children in common, children and stepchildren under 21 years, parents and stepparents of persons under 21 years, and boyfriends/girlfriends who have been in a relationship for nine months or more, and who have met in person at least once. If you consider that you belong to one of these groups, you can submit an application for a visa at the VFS Global application centre in Dakar, Senegal, without first contacting the Visa Section of the Norwegian Embassy in Accra. Please note that you have to meet all the ordinary criteria for a visa. If you believe that you are in another exempt category and that you are eligible to apply, you should still consult with the Visa Section of the Norwegian Embassy in Accra before applying.

04.04.2020: Norway does not accept new applications for a Schengen visa

For the time being, Norway does not accept new applications for a Schengen visa. Exceptions are only made for extraordinary circumstances. Such applicants must contact the Visa Section of the Norwegian Embassy in Accra, Ghana, before applying. It is still possible to apply for residence permits. However, all VFS Global application centres in West Africa, including the visa application centre in Dakar, Senegal, are temporarily closed. The Visa Section at the Norwegian Embassy in Accra is also closed and has not resumed normal operations. All this means that it is highly difficult or impossible to apply for both visas and residence permits at the moment.
