Visit to The Agricultural Commercialization Clusters (ACC) programme

Norway cooperates with local partners to limit the degradation of natural resources, counteract the negative effects of climate change, and strengthen resilience and food security of local communities.

Food insecurity is a key challenge for Ethiopia, and the country depends on import of wheat. The Agricultural Commercialization Clusters (ACC) programme is designed to address this challenge by transforming subsistence based small holders farming to market-oriented household economy.

Together with partners, the Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa has visited wheat farmers who have organized themselves in clusters and are producing wheat seeds, addressing the critical shortage of seeds in the country. They are also producing malt barley, selling it to malt producers who supplies the beer breweries in Ethiopia.
