Newsletter June 2022

| Shanghai

Entering June Shanghai has been more than 60 days in lockdown. Throughout the lockdown the Consulate General has shared relevant information on our webpage and held several online meetings for the Norwegian community in Shanghai. Together with Klubb Norge we also celebrated 17 May in Shanghai. A significant number of Norwegians contributed to the 17 May atmosphere with flags and bunads digitally, despite perhaps with less ice cream and sausages this year.

The number of new covid-19 infections in Shanghai has decreased drastically in May and have now reached a very low level compared with April. Today, 1 of June, the city government as launched many steps towards reopening, and we hope that the good news will continue. We also hope that all of you in the Norwegian community are doing well, despite the challenges the last few months.

The Consulate General look forward to continuing with activities over the summer. We also have some activities to share in June, please see below for more information. June 3 is China's Dragon Boat Festival. The festival, also known as Duanwu Jie (端午节), means sharing tasty zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings) with friends and family and traditional dragon boat races.

We wish everyone a good month of June, and a happy Dragon Boat Festival.
