Norway’s honorary consul general awarded Order of Merit

On 13 February, Norway’s Honorary Consul General to Mongolia, Sarangerel Luvsanvandan was awarded the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit by ambassador Svein Sæther.

Sarangerel was appointed Norway’s Honorary Consul General on 4 September 2009. As ambassador Sæther said in his speech, Sarangerel is well deserving of this honour, for all her work facilitating excellent cooperation between the Embassy in Beijing and the office in Ulaanbaatar. We have always appreciated Sarangerel’s high level of service on both consular issues and when preparing visits to Mongolia.

During her years as Honorary Consul General, we have witnessed several positive developments in the bilateral relationship between Norway and Mongolia. President Elbegdorj’s visit to Norway in 2012 was important in this regard and opened up for many other bilateral visits, including by our foreign ministers Barth-Eide in 2013 and Mongolia`s foreign minister Lundeg Purevsuren for Oslo Forum 2016. In addition, there have been several working-level delegations from the Parliament and different ministries. One of the highlights was in 2016, when we opened a visa center in Ulaanbaatar, enabling Mongolian citizens to apply for Norwegian visa more easily.

The Embassy would like to express our gratitude for all her work during these years. We look forward to the next decade, Sarangerel!
