Visitor’s visa and residence permit
A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.
Canadian citizens can visit Norway for up to 90 days without a visa. However, if you plan to stay longer than 90 days, or the purpose of the trip is to work, you must apply for a Residence Permit.
In Canada the Danish Embassy receives and decides on visa applications on behalf of Norway.
The Danish Embassy also receives residence permit applications on behalf of Norway. These applications are forwarded to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) for decision. Information about the application process and document requirements can be found on UDI’s website.
Please visit the Danish Embassy’s website for information about where and how to apply.
