New visa procedure

As of the 1st of January 2020, the Danish Embassy in Ottawa will no longer receive applications for visitor’s visa or residence permit on behalf of Norway. Instead, applications must be submitted at a VFS Application center in Toronto or Ottawa. The applications will be sent to the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York, which is a regional hub for immigration cases in North-America.

How to apply?

Staring January 2nd 2020, all applicants in Canada must meet and apply in person at one of the following VFS Global application centers in Canada:

Before you can hand in your application, you must register and pay your application in the Application Portal: https://selfservice.udi.no/ and book a prior appointment with VFS.

 

Introduction of a service fee and courier fee

In addition to the application fee payable online when you register your application in the Application Portal Norway, your application will also be subject to a service fee charged by VFS Global and a courier fee to cover transportation of the application documents between the visa application centers and New York. These fees are payable to VFS Global on your application day.

Please be aware that applications will be sent to New York on a weekly basis.

Ongoing applications

Applications for Schengen visa submitted prior to 31st of December 2019 will be processed and finalized by the Danish Embassy in Ottawa.

If you have applied for a residence permit prior to 31st of December 2019, you will be notified about the decision by the Norwegian Consulate General in New York. If you have given someone Power of attorney to represent you in your case, the notification will be sent to the person you have authorized.
