Honorary Consul Robert Jette appointed Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit

Norway’s Honorary Consul to New Brunswick, Mr. Robert Jette, has been appointed Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian by His Majesty King Harald V of Norway, for his outstanding service in the interest of Norway.

On Tuesday November 26, Ambassador Anne Kari H. Ovind presented Mr. Jette with the diploma and the insignia of the order at a ceremony in his honour, at the Government House in Fredericton in the presence of Her Honour Lieutenant-Governor Brenda Murphy.

Mr. Robert Jette graduated from University of New Brunswick Law School in 1973. He practiced Maritime and Shipping law for 40 years in Saint John and continues a limited practice in Fredericton. He was appointed Queen’s Council in 1999. Mr. Jette became Norwegian Honorary Consul in 2004 and has worked to strengthen the bonds between Norway and the province of New Brunswick ever since.

The Norwegian representation in New Brunswick is one of our oldest in Canada. Norway established its own honorary consulate in Saint John already in 1906, just one year after the dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden. In 2015, the Honorary Consulate moved to Fredericton.
