Erna Solberg to G7

Prime Minister Erna Solberg has been invited to participate in the G7 summit in Canada. She will be introducing the topic of sustainable use and management of the oceans in a special outreach session.

‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to take part in the G7 summit, and to speak about a sustainable ocean economy. Sound management and use of marine resources is crucial for the environment, food security and jobs. The oceans offer huge opportunities, but we also face serious challenges, such as how to combat marine plastic litter. The world’s countries must cooperate on these tasks. This is why the oceans are high up on my Government’s international agenda. The summit in Canada is a unique opportunity to discuss this topic with the world’s major economic powers,’ commented Ms Solberg.

The G7 summit is being held in Quebec from 8 to 9 June. The Prime Minister will be taking part in a special outreach session on Saturday 9 June. The G7 consists of Canada, the US, Japan, the UK, Germany, France and Italy. Other countries that will be participating in the outreach session include South Africa, Argentina, Jamaica, Rwanda and Vietnam.
