Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende visited Bosnia and Herzegovina

Norway is a substantial bilateral donor to BiH, aiming to support its stability and economic development. Brende emphasized that Norway stands behind BiH’s EU and NATO integration. He also affirmed Norway’s support for BiH’s territorial integrity.

During his visit on 15 February, Minister Brende met with Igor Crnadak, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mladen Ivanic, Chairman of the BiH Presidency and Dragan Mektic, Minister of Security.

At a joint press conference with Crnadak, Brende noted how Norway, through the Embassy in Sarajevo, nurtures a strong friendship with BiH.  Norway supports BiH’s efforts on its road to EU membership, and hopes that BiH will soon achieve EU candidate country status.

Both ministers emphasized the need to boost trade between the two countries.

Brende welcomed regional cooperation within South Eastern Europe, viewing it as important in the years to come.

He went on to praise relations between Norway and BiH as strong and friendly, highlighting BiH diaspora in Norway, which consists of 17 000 persons, who are well integrated in the Norwegian society.
