This is what you should know when applying for a visitor’s visa or residence permit to Norway after the 1st of August 2019:
- Where to apply?
All applicants must meet and apply in person at one of the VFS Global application centers in Kosovo, Serbia or Turkey which collaborate with the Embassy in Ankara:
- Norway Visa Application Center Pristina, Kosovo
- Norway Visa Application Center Belgrade, Serbia (opening date to be announced)
- Norway Visa Application Centers in Turkey
- Introduction of a service fee and a courier fee
As before, there will be an application fee payable online when you register your application in the Application Portal. What is new, is that applications submitted through VFS Global in Kosovo or Serbia also will be subject to a service fee and a courier fee charged by VFS to cover transportation of the application documents between the visa application center and Ankara. The fee is payable to VFS Global on your application day.

- Ongoing applications
Applications for Schengen visa submitted prior to 1st of August 2019 will be processed and finalized by the Embassy in Sarajevo.
If you have applied for a residence permit prior to 1st of August 2019, you will be notified about the decision either by the VFS application centre or by the Hub Embassy in Ankara. If you have given someone Power of attorney to represent you in your case, the notification will be sent to the person you have authorised.
Travelling to a different Schengen country?
Please note that Norway is discontinuing to represent Denmark, Sweden and Iceland in the processing of visa applications from Zagreb. If you are travelling to one of these countries, please be advised to refer to their respective Consular Missions for further information.
