Residence permit

Citizens of Azerbaijan need a residence permit in order to work or to take up residence for longer than 90 days.

For nationals of other countries:

  • Nationals of EU/EEA countries do not need a residence permit to stay or work in Norway. However, all nationals of EU/EEA countries who want to stay for longer than three months must register with the police.
  • Nationals of non-EU/EEA countries who want to work in Norway or to stay for longer than 90 days need a residence permit.

The Directorate of Immigration (UDI) normally processes applications for a residence permit.

In Azerbaijan applicants for residence permits submit their applications at the visa application center run by the external service provider, VFS Global.

Citizens of Georgia and Turkmenistan applying for a residence permit to Norway, should also submit their application at VFS Global in Azerbaijan.

If you are applying for a residence permit to Denmark, you are to follow the same process as if you were to apply for a residence permit to Norway. Please note that before you go to VFS Global in Baku to hand in your application for a residence permit to Denmark, you will have to pay the case processing fee to the bank. For details about the application fee, please contact VFS Global. You must pay the fee to the bank account of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ankara. Please make sure to print out a receipt of the payment and bring it with you to VFS Global when applying for the permit. Here are the details for the bank account:
