Visitor’s visa and residence permit

A visitor's visa allows you to stay in Norway or other Schengen countries for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. A residence permit gives you the opportunity to work in Norway and to stay for more than 90 days.

Australian citizens, holding an Australia passport, do not need a visitor's visa. However, you need a residence permit in order to stay in Norway more than 90 days.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok also represents Iceland and Sweden in visa matters. If you are applying for a visa to travel to Iceland or Sweden, you are to follow the same process as if you were applying for a visa to Norway.
