Before you apply

Find out what type of residence permit you need, e.g. in connection with work, studies, family immigration or to stay in Norway as an au pair. You will find information on the different types of residence permit on UDI’s website. 

 

In order to apply for a residence permit from Angola you must either be a citizen of Angola or hold a legal residence permit in Angola. You must have had a valid residence permit for Angola for at least six months before you can apply for a Norwegian work or residence permit. All applicants must meet and apply in person at one of the VFS Global application centres in South Africa.

Important notice: When submitting an application for a residence permit, you must also hand in your passport and other original documents for verification purposes. After the document check has been carried out, the passport and original documents can be returned to you if requested. Please note that this procedure is likely to take several days. Therefore, Angolan nationals are advised to make the necessary arrangements allowing them to stay in South Africa while the Embassy examines the passport as this procedure is likely to take several days.
