Did you know

...that the National Population Register includes information about everyone residing in Norway?

Information about people living in Norway is gathered for tax, electoral and population analyses by local tax offices. This information is registered in the National Population Register (Folkeregisteret), and is overseen by the Directorate of Taxes (Skattedirektoratet).

Information from the National Population Register, e.g. names, addresses, citizenship, identification numbers, position of employment and civil status of people, is only accessible to authorised public sector offices. However, members of the public may apply for access to information from the National Population Register for legal purposes.
