Compulsory schooling in Norway lasts for ten years, and children start school at the age of six. One can then choose to continue with upper secondary education and training that leads to university and college admissions certification, occupational competence or competence on lower levels. All young people between the ages of 16 and 19 have the right to upper secondary education and training.
